Made on Earth: Koh Phi Phi
I'm continuing to enjoy getting back into video production as a hobby. I used to do a lot of video production and motion graphics in 2011-2014, and am rediscovering my love for it. I think a lot of the concepts I've learned in design can be applied to video. Ultimately, both disciplines are a practice in creating an experience for another person, and giving them a certain feeling. To me, it's all about playing with someone's attention. With video, or in product design, someone has trusted you with their attention, and you have a responsibility to take care of it and give them the best possible experience.
In this video, I take care to change the shot every two seconds, and to keep the video short and sweet. I want the viewer to be left wanting a just a little bit more with each shot, and with the video as a whole. I don't want to dwell on any shot too long because it gets stale, and attention fades.
It also helps that Koh Phi Phi is a gorgeous island with impossibly blue water.
The tag at the end says "Made on earth." and is something I'll be talking about in a future post. I had fun designing the logo, making the period earth-blue, as a reference to Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot monologue.
